Abstract
The Junior Ballet will be presenting its own ballet evening with three world premières. For Zurich Ballet’s younger generation of dancers, it is particularly challenging to be immediately involved in the creation of new pieces rather than studying the existing repertoire. The Madrid-born choreographer Goyo Montero, will be working in Zurich for the first time. Following his international career as a dancer, he became Director of Ballet at the Staatstheater Nürnberg (Nuremberg State Theatre) in 2008. He sparked a veritable dancing boom in the Franconian metropolis and is in increasing international demand with his company, which performs pieces such as Dürer’s Dog, Cyrano or Cinderella.
Louis Stiens will also be a guest in Zurich for the first time. Born in Munich, he has danced with the Stuttgart Ballet since 2011. His first pieces were created for Stuttgart’s Noverre Society; in the meantime, he has also choreographed several works for the Stuttgart Ballet. In his very direct, forthright work, he frequently succeeds in revealing moments of sensitivity.
After Dialogos and disTANZ, his great works for the main company, Filipe Portugal, Zurich Ballet’s charismatic soloist, will again create a choreography for his younger colleagues, exploring the music of the American composer John Adams.
