Abstract
In a rarely heard version for two voices and chamber ensemble, soprano Julia Kleiter and baritone Michael Nagy present Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch, accompanied by the Labyrinth Ensemble. The Italienisches Liederbuch, written in 1890/91 and 1896, examines the entire spectrum of romantic relationships. Wolf uses concise language and emphatic tones to express longing, happiness and intimate connection, concern, despair, jealousy, and unrequited sentiment.
