Abstract
In William Shakespeare’s drama “Romeo and Juliet”, the power of love enables two young people to transcend the limits of ordinary human existence. Through Sergei Prokofiev’s music, the star-crossed lovers of Verona have also conquered the ballet stage. His richly coloured, passionate score captures with striking clarity the clash of love and hatred, and the tension between tenderness and violence.
Cathy Marston brings the world’s most famous love story to the stage with Ballett Zürich, presenting a universe of stark contrasts in which everything can be overturned in the blink of an eye. Just around the corner, either the love of your life awaits—or death. This production marks the first collaboration between the Director of Ballett Zürich and General Music Director Gianandrea Noseda.
